For the last 20 years we’ve been a Disney family. We have loved traveling to “the World”, Disneyland, and Disney Cruises at least a couple of times a year.
It’s become a running joke for us when we visit places around the world we comment on how much “they are like Disney”. For example,
– When we visited Yellowstone National Park, it felt like the Disney Wilderness Lodge. They even have a geyser there!
– When we went to Paris…it felt like Epcot’s France pavilion. When the kids were young we posted a Christmas card photo from Epcot in Florida Disney World with the Eiffel Tower in the background. We had people comment that it was so great to travel with our kids around the world when they are so young. Well it was…just a bit easier due to being in Florida!
Disney is art imitating the world…and it’s so realistic that actually visiting those places “feels like Disney.”
Well Disney World is a lot like traveling all around the world but with the convenience of staying in the US, having a lot shorter plane ride, and not spending as much to do it.
So the question is “Why travel anywhere else?”
At least if you have a limited budget…skip the trip to Europe, Japan, China, Germany, Mexico, Morocco, Italy, Norway, England, Canada, etc. and visit the Epcot World Showcase at Disney World. The buildings are amazing, the foods are authentic, and they even employ people from the original countries that speak the language. Take the time to enjoy the restaurants and shop for the full experience.

Although the home may look small from the front, behind that pretty blue and white facade is a massive 8 bedroom home with room for 20 guests. Rentals include the entire home with Disney resort themed bedrooms that include 6 king and 4 queen beds. Add to that a full kitchen, inside dining for 14, table seating on the lanai for 8 and you are set for all meals. There are three common areas including comfy couch seating on the lanai, a living room and movie/game loft.

If you have a large house full of guests and you are looking for an amazing eating experience for everyone, it can be a challenge to get a table at a restaurant. But your vacation rental home has plenty of seating for all. Why not have a private chef come in-house and prepare the meal for you at home?

- Wine & Dine US – Provided the most wonderful private chef experience. The food was fabulous and the chefs and servers were so kind, friendly and considerate. We were able to plan a custom menu ahead of time that worked for our large group of 10 adults and 9 kids and they handled all clean up. It was affordable and so much fun!
- Cali King Cuisine and Catering – Chef Cali provides an amazing experience in Hawaiian style. A former Disney chef, he’s grown in popularity over a few short years. Great food and great personality!

A Star Wars Fan Dream Room
If you’re a Star Wars fan and have heard of the Disney Galactic Starcruiser, you might know that it is an expensive 2-day experience near Hollywood Studios and Galaxy’s Edge. In September 2023 this adventure is officially coming to an end you will not be able to experience it any more.
Our Star Wars themed room at Lelani Beach Club is inspired by the Starcruiser’s Halcyon guest rooms and is included with all stays. It is now one of the few ways available in the world to experience a restful night with some of this Star Wars magic.

More Family Memories in the Sun
In their 6 day vacation at Lelani Beach Club at Windsor Island, the Kreps family packed in a ton of experiences and fun! They picked the best week to leave Minnesota to get away from sub-zero temps, ice, and snow in exchange for days in the sunshine. All ages had a great time from baby to grandma.
The home was centrally located so they could visit Disney Springs, Universal Studios, Polk Regional Park, and Indian Rocks beach just north of St. Petersburg. The Windsor Island clubhouse and water park with lazy river and mini golf was a great place to spend the afternoons.
They had plenty of great food cooked in the full kitchen including visits to several nearby restaurants like The Crazy Crab and Krispy Kreme donuts!
They enjoyed all 8 of the Disney themed rooms, the games, and the private pool and spa at the home. Everyone of 20 people had a comfortable place to stay.

Skiing in Florida!
So you may be coming to Florida to get away from the cold and snow. But do you still want to ski? Now you can at WinterClub…Central Florida Indoor Ski & Snowboard in a city appropriately named Winter Park…even though it’s not cold.
It’s made possible on spinning slope of white artificial turf so you can ski in shorts and a T-shirt. You get the same disciplines as on-hill skiing and snowboarding within a controlled and safe environment for learning or practicing for any level of skier. The ramp height can be adjusted for various slopes including:
- Green Circles – Beginner
- Blue Squares – Intermediate
- Black Diamonds – Advanced
- Double Black Diamonds – Expert
WinterClub has all the gear you need included in the price of a session including special skis. WinterClub at 2950 Aloma Avenue Winter Park 32792 is open 7 days a week from 11 am until 9 pm. Hour long sessions start at $69/per person and reservations are required. It’s about an hour drive from Lelani Beach Club.

Should I Pay for Pool Heat at My Vacation Rental?
The private swimming pool and spa is a major advantage of having a vacation rental home. The clubhouse pools can be busy and often close at dusk and so the ability to swim with just your friends and family at nearly any time of the day at your own home can be a great part of your vacation experience. (Note: A spa is similar to a hot tub but only heats when you turn it on and doesn’t require a cover.)
Vacation rental homes that have a private pool generally charge from $25-$50 a day for pool heat. At Lelani Beach Club we charge $30/day similar to other homes in our area.
Heating the swimming pool is recommended year round. You will enjoy the pool a lot more if it is heated. The only time we might try to skip pool heat is during the summer months of June-August. Even then, depending on the weather…it is worth the cost for a fully enjoyable experience with the spa.
All of the Disney World resort and park pools are heated year round to 82 degrees. Other hotels and resorts pools heat their pools between 82-85°F (27-29°C) We typically heat our Lelani Beach Club pool to 85 degrees so it is warmer than at Disney and very wonderful for a swim. We can set it remotely to a temperature you prefer so just let us know if you’d like it cooler.
Spa / Hot Tub Heat
At homes in the Windsor Island resort, the pool heaters are used to heat the spa as well if there is one. Spas only heat when the spa jets are activated and all power diverts to heat the spa to 101 degrees. During this time the pool is not heating. When the spa cycle is finished, the pool will begin to heat again. Do not run the spa all the time or you will have a colder pool.
Note: If there is a spa and you don’t pay for pool heat then you will not get spa heat either.
Not All Pool Heaters are Created Equal
The majority of home pool heaters in Windsor Island are installed by the builder and have a difficult time keeping up with colder weather because they are underpowered. They also do not have the ability to be controlled or monitored. At Lelani Beach Club we replaced the pool equipment with a more reliable heater and higher capacity dual-speed pump to give our guests a more consistent experience. So when you pay for the heat you are more likely to actually get it.
Other Pool Heater Considerations
It can take the pool heater about 1-2 days to get the pool up to its set temperature. If a guest has paid for pool heat we turn it on BEFORE their stay so that it has heated up ready for their arrival. If a property owner does not do this you might not be able to use the pool upon arrival.
During the colder winter months, the effectiveness of ANY vacation home pool heater is dependent on the outside air temperature. Pool heaters run on electric heat exchange pumps that pull in the outside air to circulate and heat the pool. If the outside air temperature is below 60 degrees, the pool heater will not operate efficiently and the pool may not reach its set temperature during the daily run time (typically 9 am to 10 pm). Having a higher quality pool heater/pump increases the likelihood that your pool experience will be enjoyable.
Pool Sizes
Lelani Beach Club has the largest private pool (12’x26′), a spa, and the most spacious pool deck / lenai available for any of the homes located at Windsor Island. Houses with less than 8 bedrooms have a shorter pool with an optional spa and the townhomes have a smaller splash pool at 7.5’x18′.
Conclusion
We suggest that you get pool heat for your stay for maximum enjoyment and that you rent a home that has high quality and reliable pool equipment for the best opportunity to have it meet your expectations.

Keeping Valuables Safe at the Pool and Beach
While on vacation at Lelani Beach Club we love hanging out at the Windsor Island pool and going into the lazy river or going to the beach and swimming in the ocean. A major stressor though is keeping our smartphone, wallet, keys, and other valuables safe while we’re away playing in the water.
We found the solution! Get a small combination portable security box / safe that you can strap to a post or chair so your valuables are protected while you have fun. It’s great for use while at the Windsor Island Clubhouse pool and water park, at one the Disney water parks like Typhoon Lagoon / Blizzard Beach, Universal’s Volcano Bay, or any of the many beaches nearby in Florida. Some of these places let you rent lockers but this way you can keep everything super close and save on the locker rental cost.
