The prize consists of a $3,000 Lelani Beach Club vacation certificate, which may provide approximately a one-week stay depending upon travel dates, nightly rates, taxes, fees, availability, and the terms of the certificate.
Airfare, ground transportation, food, entertainment, incidental expenses, and any costs exceeding the $3,000 certificate value are not included unless specifically stated by the organization conducting the drawing.
How the Fundraising Program Works
A qualifying nonprofit organization may purchase a $3,000 Lelani Beach Club vacation certificate for a fixed $3,000 price for use as the prize in its fundraising drawing.
The purchase of the vacation certificate is a separate transaction between the nonprofit organization and Lelani Beach Club and is not dependent upon how much money the organization ultimately raises through its fundraiser.
The participating nonprofit is responsible for conducting and administering its own drawing in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
For example, an organization might choose to suggest a $50 donation per entry.
If supporters voluntarily contribute $10,000 through the campaign and the organization’s prize cost is $3,000, the organization could potentially retain approximately $7,000 before any other fundraising expenses.
If voluntary contributions total $20,000, the organization could potentially retain approximately $17,000 before other expenses.
Those figures are examples only. No specific fundraising amount is guaranteed, and the drawing may not be conditioned upon reaching a minimum number of entries or minimum amount of contributions.
Important Florida Requirements
For organizations conducting a drawing in Florida, Florida law contains specific requirements governing charitable drawings by chance.
Among other requirements:
NO PURCHASE OR CONTRIBUTION MAY BE REQUIRED TO ENTER OR WIN.
An organization may suggest a minimum donation, but eligible participants must be provided a legitimate method of entering without making a purchase or contribution.
Free entries and entries associated with voluntary contributions must be treated equally in the drawing.
The drawing cannot be conditioned upon:
- A minimum number of entries being distributed
- A minimum number of donations being received
- A minimum fundraising goal being reached
Once an eligible organization offers a drawing to the public, it must conduct the drawing as advertised and award all advertised prizes in accordance with applicable law.
The organization conducting the drawing is also responsible for establishing the official rules, selecting and notifying the winner, maintaining appropriate records, and complying with all applicable charitable-solicitation requirements.

Who May Participate?
This program is intended for legitimate nonprofit organizations that are legally eligible to conduct charitable drawings in their jurisdiction.
For drawings conducted under Florida law, the organization must satisfy the eligibility requirements of Florida Statutes §849.0935, which generally applies to organizations holding a current IRS determination letter under specified categories of Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Organizations may include qualifying:
- Charitable organizations
- Nonprofit foundations
- First-responder support foundations and associations
- Community organizations
- Certain clubs and membership organizations
- Other eligible tax-exempt organizations
Not every governmental agency, fire department, police department, informal group, school organization, club, or nonprofit automatically qualifies to conduct a drawing. Each participating organization is responsible for confirming its eligibility.
Required Information for an Actual Drawing
The nonprofit organization conducting the drawing is responsible for preparing its official rules and promotional materials.
For a Florida drawing, materials associated with the drawing generally must conspicuously disclose information required by Florida Statutes §849.0935, including:
- The rules governing the drawing
- The full legal name of the organization conducting the drawing
- The organization’s principal place of business
- The source of funds used to purchase the prize
- The date, time, and location where the winner will be selected and the prize awarded, when required
- A statement that no purchase or contribution is necessary
Organizations soliciting charitable contributions in Florida may also be subject to registration, disclosure, financial reporting, and other requirements administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
The Nonprofit Controls the Fundraiser
Lelani Beach Club provides the vacation certificate but does not conduct the charitable drawing on behalf of the nonprofit organization.
The participating organization is responsible for:
- Determining its legal eligibility to conduct the drawing
- Establishing the suggested donation amount, if any
- Providing a lawful no-contribution entry method
- Creating official rules
- Processing and maintaining control of contributions
- Conducting the random drawing
- Notifying the winner
- Complying with charitable-solicitation requirements
- Maintaining any required registrations or filings
- Complying with any applicable federal, state, and local laws
Charitable contributions should be made directly to and controlled by the participating nonprofit organization rather than Lelani Beach Club.
