POOL – BASIC 8 BALL RULES
Eight Ball Rack
Balls are racked in a triangle shape with the order of the balls random. The 8-ball should be in the center.
Balls should be racked tightly so they are all in contact with each other.
The base of the rack should be parallel to the end rail of the table, with the apex ball of the rack centered on the table’s foot spot.
One ball from each group (solid and stripe) should be placed at the two lower corners of the triangle. Otherwise the rest of the balls can be placed at random.
Rules of the Break
Who breaks is determined by a coin toss or win or loss of the previous game.
The breaker can position the ball anywhere behind the table’s head string.
The cue ball does not need to hit any particular object ball first.
Unless the breaker pockets a ball, at least four balls must hit cushions.
If the breaker does not pocket a ball and fails to drive at least 4 balls to one or more rails, it is an illegal break.
In the case of an illegal break, the opponent can either accept the table as is and play from there; choose to re-rack and break; or re-rack and have the breaker go again.
If the 8-ball is pocketed on the break, the breaker can either re-spot the 8-ball and continue play, or re-rack and break again.
If the breaker pockets the 8-ball and scratches the cue ball, the opponent may either spot the 8-ball and take the cue ball in hand behind the head string for his next shot; or re-rack and choose to break.
If just the cue ball is pocketed on the break, the opponent can choose to take the cue ball in hand behind the head string, or re-break the balls.
If a ball is jumped off the table on the break, that ball stays out of play (unless it’s the 8-ball, which would be re-spotted) and the opponent then can either play it as is, or take ball in hand behind the head string.
8 Ball Rules During Game
Players take turns, with the aim of pocketing all the stripes or solids in their suit.
The game is considered to be won when a player pockets the 8-ball after pocketing all of his suit, or when the opposing player accidentally pockets the 8-ball.
The player should call the pocket for the final 8-ball shot.
The Shooter Loses When…
Shooter loses if he does any of the following (except on the break):
Scratches or fouls when pocketing the eight ball
Pockets the eight ball before pocketing all the other balls in his group
Pockets the eight ball in an uncalled pocket
Drives the eight ball off the table
The following are considered a foul…
Cue ball scratch on or off the table.
Shooter misses a ball from his suit (or the 8-ball, if the rest of the suit is pocketed) with the cue ball, without any of the other balls being hit by the cue ball.
No ball bounces off a rail or is pocketed after the cue ball strikes the object ball.
The shooter takes more than one shot at the cue ball during a turn.
The shooter’s cue pushes the cue ball and moves it before the shot.
The cue ball is touched by anything other than the tip of the cue.
The shooter touches any balls on the table, other than shooting the cue ball. (In this case, you might need the old mechanical bridge.)
The cue ball is “jumped” over another ball.
FOOSBALL RULES
Here are some of the more common foosball rules used at pro events:
- No Spinning – Keep your hands on the handle and don’t let go. A rod cannot rotate in excess of 360 degrees before or after advancing the ball upon impact. You must have clear control of the handle at all times. The penalty for letting your hands go and spinning the rod is a loss of ball possession. If you spin then your opponent gets to reserve the ball on his 5-man rod.
- No Jarring – If you tilt or lift the foosball table off the ground and it affects play in any way, there will be a penalty. This may happen when someone bangs the bumpers on the rods into the side wall too hard or aggressive or a player lifts up on the handles with too much force. The first penalty for this infraction is to place the ball where it would have been at the time the jarring occurred or your opponent can choose to reserve the ball on their 5-man rod. The second infraction gives your opponent a penalty shot from his 3-man rod.
- No Cursing or fowl language – First offense for this infraction is a penalty shot from the opponents 3-man rod. If this continues a loss of game or match will occur.
- Keeping Score – A point is counted when the ball leaves the green playfield and goes into the goal box whether it bounces back out or not. Most pro foosball matches are games played to 5 points and then best 3 out of 5 games, best 2 out 3 games, or sometimes just 1 game to 7 points. Choose what works best depending on time constraints.
- Time Limits – A player can only posses the ball for the following time limits: Goalie area and 3-man rod 15 seconds. 5-man rod 10 seconds. Penalty for this infraction is loss of possession of the ball to the opponents 5-man rod.
- Distractions – No talking while the ball is in play. Any player movement away from the ball such as hand waving, burping, or jumping in the air can be ruled a distraction. First penalty for distraction is loss of possession to the opponents 5-man rod. Second offense is a penalty shot from the opponents 3-man rod.

APPLE TV GAMES
FIBBAGE
This is a lying, bluffing, fib-till-you-win trivia party game. Fool your friends with lies, avoid theirs, and find the usually outrageous truth. Up to 8 players each require a smart phone or tablet as their controller.
The game is broken into three rounds. In the first two rounds, each player has an opportunity to pick one of five randomly selected categories, and then all players are presented with an obscure fact with a missing word or phrase. Each player secretly provides the answer to the missing phrase, trying to craft an answer that appears legitimate. If players enter the correct answer, they are told of this and encouraged to enter a false answer. The game then presents all players’ answers and the correct answer randomly. Players must then select the correct answer. If the player selected the correct answer, they score points, while if other players have selected that player’s fake answer, they also score points for each player that selected their answer. In the final round, the game provides one last question for all players to answer. The player with the most points at the end wins. Following each question, players including the audience members have the opportunity to mark one or more answers as favorites, and the player with the most favorites is shown at the end of the game.
DRAWFUL
Players are presented with a silly phrase they must try to draw out on a canvas. The picture is then shown to all players who attempt to guess the original phrase, with points awards to players that select that phrase and to players that have their response voted as the “correct” phrase.
Up to 6 players each require a smart phone or tablet as their controller.

Scoring
A match is played best 3 of 5 games. For each game, the first player to reach 11 points wins that game, however a game must be won by at least a two point margin.
A point is scored after each ball is put into play and whenever:
1. an opponent fails to make a correct service,
2. an opponent fails to make a return,
3. the ball touches any part of an opponent’s body,
4. an opponent strikes the ball twice in succession,
5. if an opponent, or anything an opponent wears, touches the playing surface or net during play,
6. if a doubles opponent strikes the ball out of the sequence established by the first server and first receiver.
The edges of the table are part of the legal table surface, but not the sides.
In singles, the center lines serve no purpose, so ignore them.
A set is when one of the players or pairs first score 11 points. In the event that both players/pairs score 10 points, a set is won by the first player/pair to gain a 2-point lead. A full match is won when a player or pair wins the best of any odd number of sets (3,5,7).
Flow of the match
Each player serves two points in a row and then switch server. However, if a score of 10-10 is reached in any game, then each server serves only one point and then the server is switched. After each game, the players switch sides of the table. In the final game (ie 5th game), the players switch sides again after either player reaches 5 points.
Legal serve
The ball must rest on an open hand palm. Then it must be tossed up at least 6 inches and struck so the ball first bounces on the server’s side and then the opponent’s side.
If the serve is legal except that it touches the net, it is called a let serve. Let serves are not scored and are replayed.
In doubles, the ball must touch successively the right half court of server and receiver.
Once the ball has been served, both players are to make returns until a point is scored. In doubles, each player on the same team must take turns to make the return.

Tiki Toss Rules
- Each player takes a turn consisting of 11 tosses (or swings) that constitute a “round”.
- Each ringer scores 1 point.
- Rounds continue until there is a winner who has the most points out of 11 after a completed round. Must be won by 2 points.
