To open the door to the pool and lenai, push the button up to unlock and slide the door to the right. Keep the door closed when not in use to save energy and locked when not home or at night for safety.
Pool/Spa Controls
If you have paid for pool heat, the pool heater will be started before you arrive to allow time for the pool the get warmer. (It takes at least a day to warm up when it is cooler outside.) We set the pool to 86 degrees Fahrenheit. (Disney sets their pools at 82 degrees. The World Health Organization suggests 78 to 86 degrees as comfortable and safe.) The pool heat is off at night during resort quiet time so it may take a bit of time in the morning to come up to temp again. The spa is set to 102 degrees…but only when it is running and the pool heat is diverted to the spa.
There are three simple user options for the pool/spa located on the control panel on the back wall of the house near the lenai screen door:
- Press the SPA button to divert pool heat to the hot tub/spa. It may take up to 1 hour for the spa to reach full heat. Press the SPA button again to turn it off when you are done so the pool heats again.
- Press the AIR BLOWER button to turn on extra bubbles in the hot tub/spa. Note: Turning on the air blower can lower the temp temporarily as cooler water in the pipes gets pushed into the spa. It will warm up in time.
- Press the LIGHT button to turn on colored LED lights at night for the pool. Push multiple times to get different color options.
It’s easy for us to turn on the pool or spa heat remotely and check the temperature. Feel free to text us (612-298-0086) or send a message via Facebook chat (Tim Cimbura) and we can turn on the spa heat on/off for you. This is helpful also so that you can warm up the spa in advance.
If it rains the pool may fill up and the water can be filled right to the brim. Normally, the water level is about 5 inches below the edge so you can easily see the tiles.
No worries. Just splash around the the water level should go down after a while and the water will heat up again after it has time. Water will not get into the home because there is a drain that runs the length of the lenai that will keep the water out of where it doesn’t belong.
Pool Heat
Heating the swimming pool is recommended from October-March. It usually takes about 24 hours to warm up the water. Pool heat is $30/day. It will run through the day but must be off for resort quiet time.
During the colder winter months, the effectiveness of the pool heater is dependent on the outside air temperature. Pool heaters run on electric heat exchange pumps. They pull in the outside air to circulate and heat the pool. If the outside air temperature is below 60 degrees, the pool heater will not operate efficiently and the pool may never reach its set temperature during the daily run time (typically 9 am to 10 pm).
Hot tub spas only heat when the spa jets are activated and all power diverts to heat the spa to 102 degrees. While this is occurring, the pool is not heating. Once the spa cycle is finished, the pool will begin to heat again. So do not run the spa all the time or you will have a colder pool.
Swimming Pool Maintenance
The quality of the pool water is the responsibility of our licensed and insured pool contractors from Aqua Plus Pools. Do not be alarmed if you see a pool technician appear in your pool area. Keep the screen doors for the pool deck unlocked so they can check and maintain the water quality and cleanliness.
Pool Floaties and Air Compressor
We have some pool noodles and a couple of tubes stored in the pool closet. These items are cheap often get damaged so there is no guarantee that they will be there. Sometimes previous guests leave whatever items they purchased as a bonus.
You can purchase more floaties at the Publix grocery store nearby. They have them right outside the main door.
The Windsor Island water park has their own tubes you can use for the lazy river.
We have an air compressor available in the closet of the Grand Floridian room that you may use to blow up a pool floaty or beach ball.
Swimming Pool Safety
Take care at all times when swimming in the pool.

- Close the safety fence gate when the pool is not in use
- Do not disable the pool door access alarm.
Grill Rental and Placement
If you have rented a BBQ grill the placement is important for safety and to avoid damage charges. The grill should be placed outside of the screened lenai on the grass at least 5 feet away from the home. This avoids getting grease on the pavers, soot on the ceiling, or melting the screens. Our home was nearly lost due to a previous grease fire so following this placement is critical for safety.
We have grilling utensils located in the drawer under the stove.
Note: Any ash or soot damage to furniture or rugs from a grill will incur a minimum extra maintenance fee of $250 for cleaning or replacement.
